Flooding / Flash Flooding: Rain, heavy at times, will continue through the day. This will result in rises on area creeks, streams, and rivers leading to the potential for some of our river forecast points to go into flood stage. In addition, there will be embedded thunderstorms that may contain rain rates of up to an inch per hour leading to the potential for flash flooding. The rain is expected to taper off from west to east between 8 PM and midnight this evening.
Severe Thunderstorms: There is a marginal (1 out 5) risk for severe storms, primarily with the round of storms this evening ( in the 5-10 PM timeframe). The primary hazard is expected to be damaging straight line winds. The risk is primarily across Delmarva, South Jersey, and extreme southeastern PA (see attached graphic for further information).
Back Bay Tidal Flooding: Prolonged onshore flow has resulted in minor tidal flooding on back bays in Ocean County NJ and Sussex County DE. While tidal flooding is expected to stay minor, this could exacerbate issues with freshwater flooding in these areas. A coastal flood advisory is in effect in these locations.
