WEATHER UPDATE: Tuesday, June 27, 2023
Briefing posted: 6.27.23 at 3:01 pm
We wanted to provide a quick afternoon update regarding the severe thunderstorm and flash flooding potential for the rest of today and into tonight.
Most importantly, we have expanded the Flash Flood Watch today to include portions of Monmouth, northern Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties in New Jersey. Please see the graphic attached for a regional view of the watch coverage. All flood watches for the area remain in effect until midnight tonight.
Discussion: Showers and thunderstorms are developing across eastern Pennsylvania this afternoon and are expected to continue building into tonight. As a result, isolated damaging winds, hail, and flash flooding will be possible once again with these storms. While rainfall totals today are not expected to be as high as we saw this past Monday, it will not take much additional rainfall to result in localized flooding on already saturated grounds and swollen streams.
