Flash Flood & Severe Thunderstorm Warning

In the event outages occur due to severe weather, customers without power are encouraged to report their outage by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), clicking the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com, or by texting out to 544487.    

Customers should immediately report downed wires to 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) .  JCP&L reminds customers to stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity.  Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled with trees or other debris.  Motorists are cautioned to treat intersections with inoperable traffic signals as four-way stops.

Flash Flood Warning - Please take the proper precautions
 
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Monmouth County in central New Jersey... Northwestern Ocean County in southern New Jersey... * Until 1000 PM EDT. * At 701 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.
* Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Long Branch, Middletown, Marlboro, Manalapan, Tinton Falls, Holmdel, Red Bank, Matawan, Highlands, Roosevelt, East Freehold, and West Freehold. This includes the following highways... Interstate 195 in New Jersey between mile markers 10 and 24. Garden State Parkway between mile markers 104 and 119.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Highlands

At 637 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Highlands, or near Sandy Hook, moving southeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible.

Locations impacted include... Long Branch, Sandy Hook, Middletown, Red Bank, Keansburg, Highlands, Navesink, Rumson, Little Silver, Oceanport and North Middletown.
